Attendees spoke, and the Convention and Visitors Bureau listened after the first Main Street Market in June.
CVB President Jason Musick said the survey feedback attendees provided have brought many changes to the second Main Street Market this Thursday, including a wider variety of vendors, more activities for kids and more food truck options.
“The positive feedback has just been overwhelming. It was awesome to see our community respond to something like that,” Musick said.
The Main Street Market will host more than 45 vendors and will take up Main St. from 10th Street to halfway up to Eighth Street, Musick said.
Among the many vendor options, CVB member Amy DeLaRosa said Country Road Farms will provide fresh produce, which was a big want in the attendee feedback.
Country Road Farms co-owner Jamie Knabe said the produce will be provided by other local farmers and will include tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, squash, bell peppers and potatoes. Knabe’s booth will also have beef snack sticks and farm fresh eggs.
Knabe said she is hoping for a big turnout like she saw last time.
“Come out and have a great time. Come support us,” Knabe said. “This is our business. This is how we survive and what helps put the bread and butter on the table, sort of to say. In my case, it’s what puts the steak on the table.”
Other vendors include fresh honey booths, several arts and crafts booths and children’s author Jill Whetter, who will sell her book and sign autographs.
DeLaRosa said the fire department would be involved in providing activities for children, such as parking a fire truck near Main Street for kids to explore and have their pictures taken near it.
The fire department is also helping with a “chalk the walk” activity where kids will be able to color the sidewalks with chalk in a variety of places within the vicinity of CPA Park.
Sprinklers and bubble machines will be set up for kids to run through as well.
Musick said the Historical Society will also provide informational boards with facts about Eudora’s role in the Civil War.
The Main Street Market will have eight food truck options: Barbwire Barbecue, Brain Freeze, Hero’s New York Grill, Chilakillers, Kona Ice, Pretzelly, Flatlanders and KC Corndog Co.
The Mike Roberts Band will perform at the market as well.
DeLaRosa said she hopes this Main Street Market sparks even more community feedback, so the event can continue to evolve while it also shows off what Eudora has to offer.
“Our goals really are to continue to revamp the market every month, so we will do a follow up survey again at the end of this July 6 event,” DeLaRosa said. “But really we want to show off the nostalgia of downtown Eudora. I don’t feel like there’s a lot of people that know what Eudora has to offer, and it’s a great place.”
The Main Street Market is open from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday. The next Main Street Market takes place Aug. 3.
