Mayor Tim Reazin released the following statement Saturday night:
“This decision made by the City Commission was not made lightly. After careful consideration, the City Commission firmly believes this is the right long-term course of action for the City of Eudora. Effective immediately, Assistant City Manager Zack Daniel will assume the role of Interim City Manager. The Commission will review and discuss the terms of the interim appointment at our next regular meeting.
Eudora is a vibrant and promising community, and we remain confident in the City’s direction. Daily operations and services will continue without interruption during this transition. Our commitment to positive, purposeful growth remains unchanged, and we will continue working toward the long-term goals and vision we have set for our community.
We appreciate Kevyn Gero’s contributions to the City of Eudora and wish her the very best in her future endeavors.”

The City Commission voted to end City Manager Kevyn Gero’s contract effective immediately Friday night. The commission had 35 minutes in executive session prior to the vote. Mayor Tim Reazin said he would rather wait to comment until speaking to their personnel attorney.
The commission will move forward with next steps to eventually appoint Zack Daniel as interim city manager, Reazin said. The commission has to appoint him during a meeting and approve a contract, he said.
This is the third time this week the commission had met in executive session to discuss her evaluation. Between September and May, the commission met six times to discuss her evaluation in executive session.
Gero became city manager in June 2023 after serving as interim city manager when Barack Matite left for another position.
Gero began working for the city as assistant manager in April 2021.
Gero did a brief interview Saturday about the end of her time in Eudora.
“As city manager, I’ve always served at the will of the City Commission and ultimately they have decided to take the city in a different direction,” Gero said. “It’s been an honor to work alongside such a talented staff and leadership team, dedicated professionals who care deeply about this community. I’m proud of the progress we made together. Eudora is a special place, and I’m grateful to have been part of its story.”
This is a developing story. Check back for more later.
