The Parks and Recreation Department has begun its seasonal Holiday “Hayrack.”
“I’m excited to bring my kids to this community event and see what lights the town has to offer,” said Chelsea Pratt, who took her children to the event this week.
Her daughter, Isabella, was also excited about the ride.
“I’m so excited to see all the lights,” said Isabella, who will turn 6 on Christmas Day.
The event features hayrides and complementary hot chocolate to see Christmas lights. Twenty riders can be taken on each ride, said Johnnie Buck of the Parks and Recreation board.
“Last year was restricted because of COVID, but we’re excited to be back at full capacity,” Buck said.
Two rides will run from the Eudora Community Center every Tuesday and Thursday at 6 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. until Dec. 23.
Laura Rosenberger, who has served on the Parks and Recreation board for two years, said this is her first year helping with the event.
“It’s so fun. The kids are great, the parents are great. Everyone is just so kind and courteous,” Rosenberger, who is hoping for a white Christmas this year, said.
Donations can be made with all proceeds from the event will benefit the Parks and Recreation Foundation.
