The stained glass at Holy Family Catholic Church is getting a revamp this month.
Church volunteer Janet Campbell said Bovard Studio from Iowa is working to clean, restore and protect the windows. Some of the more damaged ones have been sent back to their studio to be rebuilt. The Plexiglas that covers them is going to be replaced with clear glass, as well.
Campbell said the church is still not quite to its fundraising goal of the project, so donations are welcome.
After the work outside is done, the church will start working to restore and preserve some of the interior. The glass is expected to be completed next week.
“It’s always been a focal point of the community. It’s the oldest building in town,” she said. “Just hope the community appreciates, you know, we’re just trying to preserve this building for future generations.”
Funding for the project also came from a grant from the Heritage Conservation Council. For more information about the restoration, read the story we wrote last year.
