Local news matters.
It’s been our mission since The Eudora Times started over three years ago. Next week is News Engagement Day and National Newspaper Week, a time to think about the importance of providing news to communities.
To thank our supporters, we will be at Zeb’s starting at 8 a.m. Tuesday and giving out free muffins and coffee to the first 15 people who stop by and tell us why local news matters.
We’ve made it three years thanks to your support. In order to grow, we need more financial support.
Just like one doesn’t walk into the hardware store and take products for free, producing news costs money. It’s a job. It’s a service.
Our reporters are all college students struggling to get by with part-time jobs and college tuition. The money that you donate goes to help those students provide you with local news. The amount of donations we receive has a direct correlation to how much news coverage we’re able to provide.
We are still not at a point where we have enough money for even one of those students to give up a part-time job and just work for The Eudora Times.
If everyone in the community even gave $5 a month to support local news, there would be a world of difference in the amount of news that we could provide.
We appreciate your support. If you are willing to support local news, please donate here: tinyurl.com/y4u7stxj
