The School Board expects to vote on the selection of a new elementary school principal next week.
A hiring committee of eight elementary teachers and Superintendent Stu Moeckel will interview four candidates Monday and Tuesday before presenting their findings to the board April 14. The candidate will replace Susan Tinich, who submitted her resignation last month.
The district did not release information on who the candidates are.
Moeckel said other votes likely to occur during the April 14 meeting include the hiring of elementary school teachers and the high school head football coach position.
The board met Thursday for an annual tour of each school and to shadow teachers, eat lunch with students and talk with school administrators about the physical school buildings.
“The best part is that we shadow teachers for a couple of classes and that gives us a bigger insight into what’s going on in the classrooms,” said Board President Mark Chrislip. “And we come back and share stories and so it’s just a good relaxed time for the board to be in the district.”
Overall, the board members and Moeckel agreed the tours went well.
Board member Heather Whalen said she visited multiple classrooms during the tour and said every building and classroom is unique.
“I’m always amazed at the feeling in each one of the buildings. You know, it’s just a different feeling,” Whalen said.
