The Cardinals kicked off baseball season this week with the team hopeful for a winning season.
However, with the rain Tuesday, its starting game was canceled along with Thursday’s game.
Coach Sean Jarvis said he’s ready to make changes to the program by increasing the program’s numbers and ensuring players are working hard during his first year as coach.
“We’ve been looking forward to this for a while now,” Jarvis said. “We’ve had some rain, and that’s just making everybody more excited.”
Senior Trenton Long said he’s really looking forward to the spring season, his final one with the team.
“Really looking forward to getting back into the game and under the lights,” Long said.
The Cardinals are most excited to see more fans come out this year to support the team now that COVID-19 restrictions have eased.
Senior Jake Lemonds said he’s most excited about pitching again.
“I’m super excited to have another winning season and hopefully get back to state,” Lemonds said.
The Cardinals’ next baseball game will be away Monday against Jefferson West.
