Defiant Fitness owner Ty Hendon plans to launch a new meal service.
The Defiant Meals program will help customers reach their fitness goals by serving calorie and macro-conscious options, Hendon said.
“Part of the decision was like, we’re already trying to help people get healthier. Let’s try to offer two services in the same building. The clients are very excited,” he said.
The program will provide customers with a balanced meal to heat up with options for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
“The diet inspiration is healthy, balanced, home-cooked food,” Hendon said.
As for specific meal plans, Hendon hasn’t made final decisions yet but said they will include lean protein, fish, quality carbohydrates and healthy fats. Prices will be in the $5 to $15 range for typical meals, Hendon said.
“A lot of people struggle with nutrition and just making healthier choices,” Hendon said. “When you get home from a long day of work, the last thing you want to do is cook something healthy. This way, they’ll have it already portioned out.”
Smaller portions will be available to customers, as will larger meal portions, Hendon said.
Instead of customers having to cook their own food, as other meal kit companies require, Hendon will ensure customers can pick up their meals already prepared.
Stephanie Ortega said she and her husband are on the go a lot, so they are excited for this service.
“For me personally, I struggle with the food part of the fitness goals, so this will definitely help keep me on track rather than trying to do it at home,” Ortega said.
Molly Bradstreet said this program will help her reach her fitness goals more efficiently. She hopes to see single-portion meals and easy to-go meals.
“I definitely think the meal prep could make it easier to build new habits and reach fitness goals,” she said. “If the work is done for you, there are less excuses to eat healthier.”
Hendon said the launch will happen as soon as he gets approval from the health inspector.
There will be a pick-up time two days a week at the studio’s location at 1904 Elm St. once the program starts. Days and times are pending.
When the program launches, customers can pre-order their weekly meals on the Defiant Fitness website.
