Whether decorating a trunk, bringing candy or dressing up, everyone is welcome to the downtown Trunk or Treat at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 25.
Starting at 3:30 p.m., parts of Main Street will be closed off for the free event. Those who want to participate can decorate their trunk, park on Main Street and bring candy to pass out. Families can bring their children without decorating a trunk, too.
Cars should leave a space between each trunk for safety reasons, according to the event flyer.
Chamber of Commerce President Meagan Cox said many people will do themed trunks and costumes. She said the library will bring its book cart. Local businesses have been invited to have their own displays, too.
“It’s just whatever your vision is,” Cox said. “It’s just having a parking spot where you can decorate or have some kind of fun little stopping point for the kiddos to come in and either do an activity or just get candy.”
Cox said over 800 kids have participated in the event in the past.
“We just hope that it’s a successful event and everybody has fun,” Cox said.
National Halloween spending is expected to reach a record $13.1 billion this year, according to the National Retail Federation. The previous record was $12.2 billion set in 2023. Candy purchases are expected to approach $4 billion.
The top children’s Halloween costume is Spiderman, followed by princesses and witches, according to the National Retail Federation. Other top costumes include more superheroes and supernatural characters. Costumes from the 2025 movie “KPop Demon Hunters” have also made the top 10.
Top costumes for adults are witches, vampires and pirates, while top pet costumes are pumpkins and hotdogs.
