Community members will protest in support of democracy from 10:30 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Oct. 18. They will protest on Church Street in front Casey’s.
The No King’s Peaceful Protest is part of nationwide protests happening Saturday.
Trunk or Treat
Heartland Community Health Center will host a Trunk or Treat event from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18 at 1312 W. Sixth St. in Lawrence.
The event is free and will feature decorated trunks, music, raffles, candy and flu vaccines for all ages provided by the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department’s Mobile Unit. COVID-19 vaccinations will also be available for those ages 12 and older. Those who plan to get a vaccine should bring their ID and insurance information.
Kids Fun Run
The Kansas Half Marathon & 5K returns Nov. 2 to downtown Lawrence, featuring a new free Kids Fun Run presented by Lawrence Gymnastics Academy and Panda Pediatrics.
Children are invited to wear their Halloween costumes one more time and join the short fun run at the South Park playground at 9 a.m. No registration is required, and each child who participates will receive an official Kansas Kids Fun Run medal.

We also will accept new job announcements, birth announcements, engagement/marriage/anniversary announcements, high school and college graduation announcements, and pet news. Pet news could include announcement of a new pet or an obituary for a pet. The cost of these various announcements will be $10 each. The fee is to support personnel who must prepare this information for publication.
