Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health is now offering the 2025-2026 COVID-19 vaccine for adults ages 65 and older.
The department said vaccination remains one of the most effective ways to prevent severe illness, hospitalization and death from the virus, especially among older adults.
Appointments can be scheduled by calling 785-843-0721. In addition, walk-in clinics will be available for both flu and COVID-19 vaccines on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. beginning Sept. 26 and continuing through October.
Clients should bring their ID and insurance card. Insurance coverage for this year’s COVID-19 vaccine may vary, according to a release from Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health.
Guidance on vaccine availability for people younger than 65 is expected after the federal Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices meets Sept. 18-19. Residents may sign up to be notified when the vaccine becomes available for younger age groups at this form.
