The Convention and Visitors Bureau has canceled its Farm to Fork Dinner scheduled for Sept. 26.
CVB President Jason Musick said the event was canceled after the Great Kaw Adventure Race didn’t receive enough registrations to move forward. The CVB had been planning multiple events around the race.
The Farm to Fork event was going to feature a full dinner hosted at Barbwire Barbecue made from fresh, local ingredients. In an earlier interview with the Eudora Times, Musick said the Farm to Fork dinner was an effort to celebrate Eudora’s rich agricultural history.
The CVB also canceled its cookoff fundraiser bash scheduled for the day after the race.
CVB Vice President Amy DeLaRosa said it had not sold any tickets to the dinner prior to canceling.
“That’s probably the most disappointing reason for the cancellation, is the local farmers and other small businesses that were partnering with us for that event,” DeLaRosa said. “Just having to cancel on them as well.”
She hopes to do the dinner and bash next year, though.
“We hope that the Eudora community will support both events in the future, and we hope to be able to give it another shot,” DeLaRosa said.
Musick said the CVB will continue to partner with the city and other entities to find ways to promote agritourism and celebrate Eudora and its history.
