The City Commission on Monday will consider approving the city manager’s proposed budget for 2026.
The commission has been discussing its tax rate and budget priorities the last few months. The budget presented to commissioners last month included a full-time city planner, part-time deputy court clerk, economic development pursuits related to the proposed STAR bond district, firework funding to draw visitors from the World Cup and money for equipment updates for the fire department.
The recommended budget includes a half mill property tax rate increase. Because of that, the commission will need to vote to authorize exceeding the revenue neutral rate, which is the rate in which city property tax revenue would stay the same.
In other business, the commission will consider a proclamation recognizing the victims and first responders of 9/11.
The commission will also go into executive session with Interim City Manager Zack Daniel before the meeting for a monthly performance review for non-elected personnel.
The meeting is set for 7 p.m. at City Hall.
