The city will partner with the Convention and Visitors Bureau to plan events around the annual Great Kaw Adventure Race.
More details about this year’s race were discussed at the City Commission meeting Monday night.
Assistant City Manager Zack Daniel said the planning committee has worked out logistics for the race to begin at 10 a.m. Sept. 27. A landing page on the city’s website and Facebook event for the race will go out this week, Daniel said. Registration will open next week, he said.
The route will start in Nottingham, go through Bluejacket Park and then down Main Street to the river portion. People will bike through the east side of town and the loop around south to Village Green, he said.
The CVB will have a Pascal’s Bash portion of the event at Village Green, as well as some programming inside the gym, Daniel said. More information will be coming soon.
CVB President Jason Musick gave an update about the bureau and upcoming events at the meeting, as well.
He shared the organization’s new branding and website: domoreineudora.com. The Main Street Market series will continue from 5:30 to 8 p.m. each second Thursday of the month through September.
He also shared they are planning a farm-to-table experience Sept. 26. The meal will be made up of fresh, local ingredients from nearby farmers. It will be on the patio of Barbwire Barbecue and more information about tickets will be available later.
Coming up, the Star-Spangled Celebration in collaboration with the Parks and Rec Department fireworks show is planned for 6 to 9 p.m. on the Fourth of July. There will be live music and food at the event.
