High School Principal Bill DeWitt will participate in a panel about violence in the county during a Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health event Thursday.
Public Health After Dark gives Douglas County residents to learn more about related topics in a casual, community-oriented environment.
During the event from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday March 27 at the Lawrence Public Library, Dee Kinard, informatics manager for the public health department, will share data on violence. There will be a panel with Douglas County Undersheriff Stacy Simmons, Jomella Watson-Thompson from KU and DeWitt. Watson-Thompson will share perspectives and data on violence and consider solutions.
DeWitt said he will bring his school administrator perspective as there have been concerns about juvenile crime. He plans to discuss what the school does to keep students safe.
The event is free and open to the public. The department requests a registration, but it is not required.
