Wrong utility bills were recently mailed to Eudora residents after city staff accidentally sent the wrong files to a third-party mailer.
The incorrect file was uploaded, which caused customers to receive August bills a second time.
Customers who received the wrong utility bills were directed to go to the online payment portal to access September’s bills.
City Clerk Kelly Delay said the city worked with the third-party company as soon as they could to address and correct this issue and the mistake was a “human error.”
“The city apologizes for the delay with customers receiving the September utility bill in the mail,” Delay said. “Any customers with questions or concerns are asked to contact city offices. Utility billing specialists are working with customers to clarify and resolve any confusion.”
City Manager Barack Matite said the error did not cost the city more money to resend the correct bills. It only cost the mailing company more money.
Residents are encouraged to call the city if they have any questions at 785-542-2153.
