I am the daughter of rural small business owners.
Growing up, I was well versed in how every school and community organization would come asking my family’s businesses to donate to one thing or another.
I was also well versed in how many of these same people would then turn around and go to the big city to do their shopping instead of supporting Main Street back.
It’s why I take Small Business Saturday so seriously. And I hope you do, too, especially with how generous local Eudora businesses are.
A few weeks ago, a group of us got together to brainstorm how The Eudora Times can raise a much-needed $15,000 in the next few months. Spearheaded by Waylon Ziesenis, the team included business owners Kathy Weld, Elizabeth Knispel and Jason Musick.
We came up with a Home for the Holidays theme. For $20, you can buy a coupon card with all proceeds benefiting The Eudora Times to help support our student journalists and keep our newspaper going.
In return, you can get discounts at participating businesses: Gambino’s, Twill Trade, Barbwire Barbecue, One Window Photography, Eudorable, Zeb’s Coffeehouse, Eudora Thrift, Blue Jacket Crossing, GO Tire and Lube, and Jasmin’s.
All of these businesses got on board to support us. In turn, we hope that you will visit them this holiday season and thank them for all that they do for the community.
You can buy a coupon card at Zeb’s, Twill Trade or Barbwire Barbecue throughout the holiday season. Discounts are good until the end of January. One discount per location.
Please support us. Please support them. Shop local and invest in your community just as they have invested in you.
