Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Karen Boyer submitted her letter of resignation this month.
Boyer confirmed her resignation with the Eudora Times on Friday and did not offer further comment.
Boyer took over the position in September 2020 with goals to grow membership, increase the Chamber’s online presence and hold events. Last month, she announced the opening of a downtown Chamber office at 715 Main St.
Chamber President Jannell Lorenz said the board will take steps to assess how the Chamber has progressed over the past year.
“The path to growth isn’t always linear. We’re taking inventory of what worked, what didn’t and having conversations as to how we can make improvements. We’re having great conversations and gaining clarity on the ideal candidate we’re looking for next time,” Lorenz said.
Interviews for the newly vacant position within the Chamber are soon to open. Lorenz said the executive director has always been a program coordinator, and the ideal candidate should be able to delegate and work in a team atmosphere.
“We’re going to open it up for interviews once we get our job description updated. We are meeting in the near future to get that updated and then we’ll be making that job posting,” Lorenz said.
