A Georgia woman died and a Kansas man was seriously injured after a crash on Kansas Highway 10 Thursday night, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities were dispatched to the curve on Highway 40 and Kansas Highway 10 around 10:19 p.m. Thursday. When they arrived on scene, they found two vehicles had crashed head-on, said Deputy Charlie Cooper, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office.
The Georgia woman, who was the only occupant in her vehicle, was unresponsive when officers arrived, Cooper said.
After attempts at life-saving procedures, the woman was reported dead.
The Kansas male driver, who was the only occupant in his vehicle, was conscious when officers arrived at the scene, Cooper said. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. No names have been released at this time pending notification of relatives.
The Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash, Cooper said.
The highway was closed for several hours overnight following the crash. It reopened around 5:45 a.m. Friday.
