Kansans have less than a week to vote for the state’s new license plate design.
Voters have until Friday to choose their favorite plate from five designs. Residents have unlimited votes at KSPlates.kansas.gov.
Gov. Laura Kelly encouraged Kansans to make their voices heard in a news release about the potential designs.
“We’re moving forward with this voting process to ensure law enforcement can easily read the selected license plate and to get safer plates on the street as soon as possible,” Kelly said in a statement.
The release from the governor’s office said “To the Stars” is still written on all five options to align with Kansas Tourism’s branding and the previously announced guidelines.
The license plate options incorporate new designs and colors based on public feedback, like a lighter blue, a state outline, wheat and sunflowers.
The options were also chosen because they prioritize public safety.
“It is critical that Kansans be able to quickly identify a vehicle by its license plate,” said Capt. Candice Breshears, a Kansas Highway Patrol officer. “Every second counts in an emergency, which is why we appreciate that the backgrounds of these license plates do not interfere with the plate combinations.”
Kelly will announce the selected plate Monday.
