Superintendent Stu Moeckel’s contract has been extended through 2026 after an evaluation by the School Board last week.
Moeckel’s new contract includes a pay increase to match raises throughout the district, Board President Mark Chrislip said.
Moeckel’s salary increased from $149,350 to $156,817 because of an overall 5% increase for administrators and director staff salaries approved by the board in October.
Moeckel said he is excited to continue to serve the district and the Eudora community.
“I think that this contract extension reaffirms the board’s commitment to the shared goals and provides an excellent opportunity for us to continue to work together,” Moeckel said. “I cannot thank the board enough for the trust and confidence that they placed in me, and I’m eager to do my best to ensure the continued success of the Eudora schools.”
Moeckel said he attributes a lot of the great things happening in the district to the board, staff and community, and he is excited to continue to support that.
He said his goals are whatever the board decides are the district’s vision, and his role is to make those things happen. He noted the bond and increasing student achievement for everyone in the district as examples of these goals.
Chrislip said there was no question that the board wanted to extend Moeckel’s contract.
“Stu’s just done a really good job since he’s come into the district. He’s very well-respected with the community. He’s well-respected with the staff,” Chrislip said.
Evaluation surveys were sent to board members and district administration and were anonymously summarized then reviewed by Chrislip.
The board evaluated Moeckel on communication, community engagement, staff development, vision for the district and other leadership expectations, Chrislip said.
“He did an awesome job coordinating the bond and now he’s doing a really good job at how we go about executing the bond and building the buildings and those sort of things,” Chrislip said.
Moeckel has spent a lot of time in each building, engaging with staff and principals.
“He’s done a good job of getting to know the staff over the last two years so that he can build a good relationship with them that turns into mentoring and coaching,” Chrislip said.
Evaluation results were discussed with Moeckel on Monday, Chrislip said.
