Kevyn Gero will serve as Eudora’s next city manager.
City commissioners met in executive session Monday evening and extended the offer to promote Gero, who has served as interim city manager since Barack Matite left for another position earlier this year.
Gero began working for the city as assistant manager in April 2021 with a portfolio that included human resources operations, city project development and evaluation of city operations. She also was in charge of supervising the city clerk’s office, municipal court, building and codes office, and planning and zoning office.
Before taking on this role, Gero spent seven years working as a management assistant and as a management analyst in the city of Lawrence’s Municipal Services & Operations Department.
She graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and received a master’s of public administration degree from the University of Kansas in 2015.
She also worked as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer, which she previously told The Times fueled her passion for public service.
