Sara Maloney is the editor and full-time reporter. She’s been writing for the Times for over a year and a half. She covers city government, education, senior citizens, business and more. Sara graduated from KU in May 2023 and is a Poynter-Koch fellow this year. Sara grew up in Overland Park and has loved getting to spend time in Eudora while finding a passion for community journalism. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, taking care of her houseplants, spending time with her cat, Opal, and exploring new coffee shops.
Jack Denebeim is sports editor and host of the Barbwire Barbecue and Kaw Valley State Bank Sports Shows. Jack is entering his final semester at KU. He loves covering Eudora’s high school sports and activities, and is excited to have players and coaches on the sports shows this fall. He also enjoys taking photos at sporting events. In his free time, Jack loves watching his Minnesota Vikings play, watching Marvel movies and spending time with his family.
Maddie Beischel is the public relations and community engagement director for the Eudora Times. Maddie is born and raised in Kansas City and is in her fourth year at KU.
She worked for the Eudora Times last year and enjoyed making genuine connections with the residents. In her free time, Maddie enjoys traveling and experiencing new cultures.
Libby Hale is associate director of public relations and community engagement. She is a senior at KU where she is pursuing a journalism major with a concentration in digital marketing communications, advertising and public relations.
She was born in England and has lived all over the place before finding her way to KU. In her free time, she loves to read and hang out with her two cats.
Katherine Diaz is our new De Soto correspondent as we pursue providing news for that community as well. She received her bachelor of science in journalism with an emphasis in strategic communications and a minor in business administration from KU in 2014.
She has written for Lawrence Business Magazine, Dos Mundos Bilingual Newspaper Kansas City and Discovering De Soto Magazine.
Ryn Drummond is a general assignment reporter/photographer. She is from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and is a sophomore at KU.
Ryn is passionate about community journalism and is looking forward to covering and meeting the people of Eudora. In her free time, Ryn enjoys baking, playing guitar and being outdoors.
Teri Finneman is founder and publisher of The Eudora Times. She is a journalism professor at KU. Her book, Reviving Rural News, is set to release next year. She is working on a book contract specifically about The Eudora Times and other universities that help provide communities with news. She has a 17-year-old cat and a pandemic kitten.
