The ATM at Church Street was broken into Monday morning after suspects stole a nearby truck.
The Eudora Police Department will meet with an FBI task force Wednesday afternoon to discuss the ongoing investigation into ATM robberies within the state.
The Kaw Valley Bank ATM on Church Street was broken into by suspects possibly connected to other ATM robberies across Kansas, Police Chief Wes Lovett said Wednesday.
The suspects stole a truck from a couple of blocks away from the ATM around 4:30 a.m. Monday morning.
After stealing the truck, the suspects backed it up to the ATM and attached chains in order to pull it apart.
“We’re investigating it right now. It’s kind of a joint investigation with a FBI task force that’s been working a lot of these in the state of Kansas,” Lovett said.
The task force has already been working on the investigation for quite some time, Lovett said.
Kurt Spachek, executive vice president of the bank, said the suspects did successfully enter the ATM. The bank is getting estimates on the ATM’s repairs, he said.
“It’s upsetting to everybody,” Spachek said. “It’s a small town where you don’t expect things like this to happen.”
