City commissioners will discuss Monday whether to move forward with annexing land intended for a potential sports and entertainment development.
Earlier this month, the Planning Commission recommended the tract of land south of K-10 next to the LMH Health Therapy Services building be annexed into city limits. The 55 acres at 2248 N. 1300 Road is owned by Larry and Marilyn Wilson.
City officials are hoping for a future STAR bond district that could include a new arena for sports and other activities, a hotel, family entertainment, restaurants and apartments.
If the area is annexed, it will initially be zoned as agriculture. A request to rezone would need to follow.
In other business, commissioners will hear updates from Chamber President Anthony Brown and consider buying a $58,000 cascade air system for the Fire Department. Cascade systems are fixed charging stations for contained breathing apparatuses, according to the agenda.
The commission will also discuss a housing needs analysis prepared by staff.
