Abby Adams has loved singing since she was a kid and knows the impact of music.
So a rainy Valentine’s Day didn’t stop her or her high school choir classmates from spreading love around the community Tuesday.
Choir teacher Allison Enneking said the students were all over town with their singing valentines.
“We sang in people’s residences, we sang in people’s driveways in the rain, we sang in the vet’s office. Anywhere and everywhere people would have us,” Enneking said.
The students began their day singing for staff in each one of their buildings at the high school and the staff at the West Resource Center, attracting crowds of onlookers.
“It’s so fun to go and sing for a bunch of different people,” said Allison Allison, a sophomore in her second year of choir.
Singing Valentines is the biggest travel performance the EHS choir performs and only students in the audition-based choirs are able to participate.
Adams said the choir prepares three months in advance for performances and students spend about seven hours a week practicing.
Allison said students practice outside of school with practice tracks provided by Enneking when they have solos or are working with harder songs.
All students can enroll in choir, and Enneking is conducting auditions before spring break for those interested.
