A sweet surprise is coming downtown sooner than you may think.
Main Street Scoops and Sweets will have its grand opening this weekend.
The shop will open officially Saturday, in honor of National Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day. Stacie Blubaugh, who will operate the business with her husband Mark, said the shop will have special breakfast items from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. to celebrate the occasion, as well as their normal menu items. The shop will remain open until 10 p.m.
The shop will feature 16 flavors each day, which will be swapped out every couple of days. The opening flavors include caramel chaos, strawberry, iced latte-da, ultimate Oreo and Superman.
“We didn’t realize it was National Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast until about a month ago, and I was like, ‘We can’t miss that,’” Blubaugh said. “A lot of people have just been working so hard to make that happen. My family and friends have been going above and beyond with time and hours to make the tables, make the cabinets and do the painting.”
They are encouraging customers to wear pajamas to the shop Saturday.
The rehabilitation of the shop at 714 Main St. is finally complete, despite supply challenges due to COVID-19.
Main Street Scoops and Sweets will open at 8 a.m. Saturday but regular hours will be 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays, 12:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
