Dee Ann Howell wants people who walk through her door to walk out feeling better.
Howell opened a new location of Warrior Wellness at 1004 Locust Ave. on the west side of the building that also houses Lulu’s Bakery. She offers massage therapy services there as well as nutrition and life coaching.
Howell started her journey to becoming a massage therapist after discovering she was tired of the corporate world.
“I started making changes in 2022 after I started off getting my certified personal training certificate,” Howell said.
Howell also received training for strength and flexibility.
“That was an awesome modality to have. To be able to have people improve their mobility, flexibility and range of motion,” she said.
As a life coach, Howell tries to figure out where clients want to be and how they’re going to get there. She has clients visualize an end goal and come up with a plan of action for them to live their best lives.
“I just saw a way, along with my nutrition coaching, and put it hand in hand,” Howell said.
Howell creates action plans with clients to improve their lifestyles and conducts weekly check-ups to make sure her clients stay on track and, if not, what roadblocks are in the way.
Another service Howell provides for clients is fat cavitation. Fat cavitation breaks down adipose fat tissue that then excretes through the liver through waste. It is typically a 30-60 minute appointment that uses an ultrasound-like wand.
Howell started her online work to become a massage therapist last fall through the U.S Career Institute. She was required to enroll in a 30-day in-person program in Fort Collins, Colorado, for hands-on experience in February.
She describes herself as a caregiver and, now that she’s entered the massage world, Howell enjoys making a difference in her clients’ lives.
“She is very, very, very dedicated to her new job. She is something else,” client Kathleen Brown said.
Howell is open in Eudora from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.Mondays and Tuesdays. On Thursdays, she is either in Eudora or Lawrence from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., depending on her clients’ needs. A typical 60-minute massage costs $60.
Howell doesn’t up charge for services she offers because when clients walk in they have the ability to bring up areas of concern and what they want out of the massage. She offers cupping, hot stones and prenatal massages and is working toward specializing in upper-body massage therapy in the shoulders and neck.
She caters to satisfying her clients and making sure they walk out with a difference.
“She just doesn’t give you a massage and you go home. She’s very cautious about the health of your body,” client Jamie Knabe said.
