City commissioners received an update from CBRE about Nottingham Center at Monday’s meeting.
The property deals with Mid-America Bank and Scooter’s will be executed on June 15, First Vice President of CBRE Jody House said. A ribbon-cutting event will be held when the entire project is completed.
The CBRE team is continuing to speak to different restaurants and retailers for the remaining parcels, House said.
“We’re just hoping that the idea of Panasonic coming is gonna spark some growth in something that we don’t have,” Mayor Tim Reazin said.
The Eudora Times has tried repeatedly to reach Scooter’s in recent months to receive more information about its plans in Eudora. Representatives either don’t return messages or express unawareness of plans for a Eudora location.
In other business, Reazin briefed commissioners on a Lawrence-based developer who has not been following proper protocols in the city to acquire property. The developer has attended a Planning Commission meeting and has provided packets to commissioners. He has asked commissioners to give verbal consent to his requests, Reazin said.
Reazin said he doesn’t mind telling people that they need to go through the proper steps.
“It’s our community in the long run, and I don’t want somebody coming to tell us what or how to do it,” Reazin said.
In other business, commissioners approved a contract with Duke’s Root Control to conduct a flow analysis in the city’s sewers.
A flow analysis consists of putting a flow tracking device in manholes over a three-month period to track the regular flow and flow during weather events, Public Works Director Branden Boyd said.
Engineers tested depths, flow line sizes, manhole sizes and more to help determine what the capacity of the sewer lines are, Boyd said.
The flow monitoring project will not exceed $25,500, according to the meeting agenda. Funding will be delegated from the Sewer Impact Fund.
