
The Cardinals celebrate their win over Wamego with the sub-state championship trophy. The team will play Baldwin in the first round of the state tournament Wednesday.
The road to a state championship for the Cardinals is now set as KSHSAA has released the brackets for the state tournament.
The Cardinals (18-4) come in as the No. 4 seed and will play No. 5 seed Baldwin (18-4) at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Tony’s Pizza Event Center in Salina.
The Cardinals played Baldwin back in early January and came away with a 73-54 win.
Should the Cardinals win Wednesday they will play either No. 1 seed Hugoton (20-2) or Cinderella team, No. 8 seed Clay Center Community (9-13) at 2 p.m. Friday.
If the Cardinals advance to the state championship game, they will play at 4 p.m. Saturday.
The rest of the teams in the 4A tournament include No. 2 McPherson (19-3), No. 3 Atchison (19-3), No. 6 Bishop Miege (16-6), and No. 7 Wellington (15-7).
