The family has created a GoFundMe to help with emergency expenses here.
Alex Mendel is also organizing efforts to support law enforcement after a difficult few days.
“I am so proud of our local law enforcement and the mental toll on them to make these decisions is not taken lightly. Please help me offer our gratitude, support and encouragement for the many officers that were on scene throughout,” she said in a Facebook post.
The community can sign up for a day to provide snacks/drinks here.
Mendel said another option is purchasing snacks or drinks online and having them shipped directly to the department 930 Main St. Eudora, KS 66025.
