City commissioners are looking at making pavement upgrades in town with the help of higher than expected general fund revenues.
At the May meeting, the city staff recommended moving forward with a pavement improvement project after seeing fund balances coming in higher than expected.
The paving project bids came in under budgeted estimates, at $418,000 from Byrne and Jones Construction rather than the estimated $590,000. This work is for West 27th Street, Montrose Circle, Seymour Court and Shadow Ridge Court.
The city is recommending adding more work for the intersection at Fir Street and 28th Street. This cost is estimated at about $135,000, which will still come in under the original budgeted estimate.
Also Monday night, the city will see a draft of a fair housing policy required for the city to receive Community Development Block Grant funding for 701 Main St. The city has never had a policy of this kind, but is required as the city serves as a pass-through for this particular funding.
The document handles housing discrimination and civil rights complaint guidelines.
The commission will also hear a presentation from the Douglas County Metropolitan Planning Organization about a pedestrian plan for Eudora, Baldwin City and Lecompton. The commission will also consider a resolution to support the plan.
The meeting will be at 7 p.m. Monday at City Hall.
