The City Commission will discuss the proposed 2025 budget at Monday’s meeting.
The city manager’s office is proposing a flat mill levy at 39.001, with a shift of 1 mill from the general fund to the bond and interest fund for debt obligations. The city plans to exceed the revenue neutral rate.
The city will discuss proposed capital improvement projects, like Parks and Rec, streets and utility projects, as well as.estimated expenditures and revenues for next year. They will also discuss economic development-related costs.There will also be a breakdown of what this means for the property tax for the average homeowner during the presentation.
The public hearing for both the budget and the revenue neutral rate is expected to be set for Aug 26.
The city will also discuss next steps in moving forward with the Community Development Block Grant for Pilla Park renovations. The commission may motion to move forward with allowing the city’s legal authority to apply for the funding.
If the city receives the funding, the city would have to match the cost with about $216,600, which is included in the proposed 2025 budget. There is also $15,000 identified out of the fund to use for preliminary work ahead of the project’s start.
The city will also discuss the sale of general revenue bonds for the Nottingham redevelopment district. The city is suggesting the commission make a motion to authorize the issuance of the bonds to allow the levy and collection of annual tax for the purpose of paying the principal and interest on the bonds.
