The potential for a new shed project at Lucy Kaegi Park will be discussed by the City Commission at Monday’s meeting.
The proposed plan is to convert a large shelter at the park into a fully enclosed storage shed. Parks and Rec would use the space to de-clutter the Rec Center community room and gym closet and provide a safer space for items currently stored outside.
The project will use the existing concrete pad and steel beams and will require a replacement of the roof and some deteriorating wood. There would be a large garage door and new siding paint and gutters.
The staff is proposing the city accept a proposal from Cox Homes for $33,230 after receiving three bids for the project.
In addition, the city will discuss some updates on the RAISE grant, a $21 million federal grant to improve and widen about a mile of road from 20th to 28th streets.
The city sent out a request for proposals for design and engineering work for the project. It’s received eight responses.
The options were reviewed and interviewed by a panel. Negotiations with the company are not complete so there is no action for the commission to take at the Monday meeting. That is expected to be in November.
