Interim Fire Chief Chris Hull is reminding the community how important smoke alarms are following the recent house fire.
The fire department said all homes should have working smoke alarms in every floor of the home, including the basement, bedrooms and hallways.
People should check smoke alarms regularly using the built-in test feature, and also make sure the batteries are changed at least annually.
Eudora residents can contact the department for assistance with installation or maintenance of alarms. Oftentimes the department can provide free smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, as well.
To request services, residents can call the station during business hours at 785-542-3653 or submit a request online by creating a Community Connect account and using the smoke alarm request feature. To do so, go to the fire department homepage.
