The repairs to Evergy’s transformer are still ongoing and estimated to be completed by the end of day Friday. The city will update when those repairs are complete and determine if that was the fix.
Assistant City Manager Zack Daniel said once the city determines if this fix solves the issue, they will determine who should be contacted about any damage claims.
The city thinks the issues with the power surges may be fixed, but is asking those still having issues to report them to the city.
Evergy discovered a potential problem Tuesday afternoon with one of the transformers it maintains, Assistant City Manager Zack Daniel said Wednesday morning.
Evergy then shut off the load tap changer on the transformer to work on the issue. This required the city to switch two circuits that had been experiencing the voltage drops to alternate transformers while work is done.
Since that happened, the city has not received any reports of outages. The city said if this was the solution to the citywide issue they will know by the end of the week when Evergy’s repairs are done and services can be switched back to its transformer.
