Providing more city funding to help support the Eudora Senior Wheels program is on the City Commission’s agenda for Monday night.
The commission will discuss entering into a memorandum of understanding with the Senior Resource Center for Douglas County. The resource center operates the Eudora Senior Wheels program, which transports seniors for medical, nutritional and personal reasons.
To date, the city has not given direct funding for the service. Instead, the city has given $2,500 to the Senior Foundation of Eudora, which then gave money to the Senior Resource Center.
Baldwin City has provided $4,000 annually for the service.
The commission will discuss providing $4,000 directly to the center to support the program starting in 2025. In 2023, there were 1,200 rides with Eudora passengers.
The commission will also discuss the voluntary annexation request that was last discussed by the Planning Commission. The property is about 54 acres at 535 W. 20th St. and owned by Amy Rogers. The city is yet to receive any notice of development plans for the property.
City staff will also provide an update on the general fund in the 2025 budget. They’ll also receive a presentation from Gordon CPA regarding the 2024 financial audit.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at City Hall. The link to watch on zoom is also available on the agenda.
