After two seasons of the Main Street Market, community and vendor feedback has yielded new recommendations for next year.
The market has grown significantly since the first season with an additional 30 vendors coming this year, totaling about 70 vendors at the biggest market, organizer Amy DeLaRosa said.
Next year the markets will go from May to September since the October market didn’t have as high of a turnout due to other larger fall markets going on.
The market will continue to start at 5:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month but will end at 8 p.m. instead of 8:30 p.m. going forward due to attendance numbers and vendor feedback..
Each market will also be focused on having a theme, whether it’s a barbecue cook-off, a car show, tractor shows or more specialized events for children. Over the last couple of years, they’ve done small activities for children like a touch-a-truck, but families want more intentional themes every month, she said.
Overall, attendance this year was up, she said.
“We are really trying to figure out how we can reach out to communities beyond Eudora and get attendance from outside places as well,” she said.
After the first year of the CPA Picnic collaborating with the market, DeLaRosa said next year the market will just be Thursday and Friday instead of also doing Saturday.
More conversation about changes and steps for planning next year will be planned after the holiday markets, DeLaRosa said.
