Advanced in-person voting for the March 19 presidential preference primary begins today and ends at noon March 18, according to a press release from the secretary of state.
In-person voting at the Douglas County Election Office at 711 W. 23rd St. in Lawrence will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays until March 15, according to the county’s website. March 16 voting will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The last day for advanced voting will be 8 a.m. to noon March 18.
“This is the first of three big elections that Kansas voters will participate in this year,” Secretary of State Scott Schwab said in a statement. “Even though there is only one race on each party’s ballot, I encourage all registered voters to make their preference known in this important race.”
The preference primary will require unaffiliated voters who wish to participate to declare a party affiliation when checking in at their polling location.
The deadline to register to vote in the primary to request an advanced mail ballot was Feb. 20.
