A Eudora athlete is participating in a special volleyball tournament and the police department will host a drug take back day.
Highland Community College will host players from neighboring states for its inaugural 4-State All-Star Volleyball Game. Rayah Foltz of Eudora will play on the gold team.
The game will begin at 2:30 p.m. Sunday (April 14) at Ben Allen Field House on the Highland Community College campus.
Athletes will come from Nebraska, Missouri and Kansas. Admission is $5 per person.
Drug Take Back
The Eudora Police Department will participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day as they take back unused or unwanted prescriptions from 10 a.m. to noon April 27.
Residents can drop medications off to the police department.
Douglas County residents can also bring their unused medication to a drive-thru site from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 27 in the parking lot of the courthouse in Lawrence or to the Sheriff’s Office. They will accept expired or unused prescriptions and over-the-counter medications.
The event is open to the public and anonymous.
The goal is provide a safe place to dispose of unneeded medications from homes while preventing medication misuse or opioid addiction. It also helps eliminate improper environmental disposal into water supply systems.
The Sheriff’s Office also noted it cannot accept needles, sharps or inhalers. Veterinary drugs are accepted.

We also will accept new job announcements, birth announcements, engagement/marriage/anniversary announcements, high school and college graduation announcements, and pet news. Pet news could include announcement of a new pet or an obituary for a pet. The cost of these various announcements will be $10 each. The fee is to support personnel who must prepare this information for publication.
