Regional and state tournaments are the highlight of every sports season — they are also expensive for newsrooms to cover.
Between hotel, mileage, food and long work hours, it can cost between $500 and $1,000 for us to send our sports crew to each tournament.
We are a donation-funded newsroom. Meaning, we rely on our readers to be able to stay in business and keep the newspaper covering the community.
