A special meeting to discuss pending litigation will begin before Monday’s regularly scheduled City Commission meeting.
The commission will go into executive session to discuss “pending litigation pursuant to the consultation with an attorney…’” the agenda states.
Commissioners will be joined by the city manager, assistant city manager, city attorneys and “select city staff.”
This meeting will begin at 6:30 prior to the regular meeting set for 7 p.m. Monday.
During the regular meeting, commissioners will see a presentation on the 2024 yearly report. The report will include information about city finances, property tax distribution, debt management, assessed valuation and grant funding secured last year.
The report will also breakdown what kinds of code violations were given out during the year, as well as permit distribution and contractor licensing. It also includes statistics on police calls, traffic citations and community assistance calls, as well as fire department responses.
The report also shows some of the capital improvement plan items that were included in last year’s budget.
Surplus vehicles, mowers and other items will potentially be sold to the Purple Wave auction as part of Public Works’ plan for efficiency and disposing of unnecessary items.
Other new equipment for the city’s fleet will be considered for purchase. The request includes a pick-up truck not to exceed $58,257, as well as other items like a flatbed and snow plow equipment.
In other business, the city will recognize Trevor Cook. Cook has been the city’s management fellow through KU and will be moving on to a job for the city of Leavenworth.
